BODY GROOVES ONLINE WORKSHOPS
Join me in an interactive & joyful exploration into the world of body percussion! This workshop is a great way to help develop your musicality in a light-hearted and embodied way. Through fun rhythmic challenges and games you’ll learn:
- the different timbres our bodies can make ways to develop coordination
- the different timbres our bodies can make
- grooves for various genres (pop, funk, Brazilian, reggae, etc.)
- to better identify the difference between pulse, sub-division & cycle which are all key elements of just rhythm, but music in general
A “Body Groove” is complete when we can sing over it, so we’ll also explore singing melodies (known and improvised) over the grooves we play. No experience needed! We'll build up slowly.
3 sessions from 6:30-7:30pm EST on:
Tuesday November 25
Tuesday December 2
Tuesday December 9
Cost: $52 for all 3 sessions OR $21 to drop in

A workshop with Jane & Joni
During this 3 hour workshop, we will explore two methods near and dear to our musical hearts—Rhiannon’s Vocal River and São Paulo Brazil’s Música do Círculo.
Both of these practices are a chance to be more present, to collaborate with others, to be in your body and of course, to make joyful music together!
Música do Círculo invites us to use play, movement and body percussion and singing as a way to connect with one another. Its non-verbal nature helps us to let go of perfectionism, and shows us how to listen in a different way. Vocal River invites you to tune into your musical intuition and to be vulnerable. It offers musical forms & games that can help ground and direct our collaborative vocal improvisation and fine-tune our musicality.
So, if you’ve been curious about this work or have been hoping to dive in a bit deeper—this is for you!
While musical experience isn’t required, these workshops will probably resonate most with those already comfortable singing in a group.
